Microsoft 365 Multi-Factor Authentication Enrollment

BeginnerTo enroll in Multi-Factor authentication please follow the steps below.
- Sign into https://portal.office.com
- In the upper right, click on the symbol with either your name or your initials on it, and then select "View Account"
- Once there, under security info you will select "Update Info".
- You will select "Add Method"
- Choose one of the options from the list:
- (Best)The most secure method is to choose Hardware Key and follow instructions for setup. (Security Key Setup Instructions included below)
- (Better) Authenticator App and use the Duo Mobile App on your phone to scan the generated QR code.
- (Good) Phone number to text/call a code
- (OK) Enter an alternate email address to receive a code.
- Follow the on-screen instructions to complete enrollment.
Security Key Setup Instructions
- In order to use a Security Key, you must first have your phone number set up as a backup method for instances when your Yubikey is not available. Press OK to this prompt and Next to continue to the Authentication Phone setup.
- Enter the phone number you'd like to receive a code via text or call. Clicking Next will send a verification code to be entered. Clicking Done will proceed with Security Key Enrollment.
- The next screen will ask you what type of Security key. Choose USB Device
- The next screen gives an overview of the process and advises you'll need your USB key and an available USB port.
- Click Next (this will redirect the browser to another window, click OK on any security prompts)
- Enter your Yubikey when prompted. You'll need to create a security PIN for O365 (any memorable 6 digit number), this is only used for recovery purposes or if a key is lost. You'll be prompted to touch the key and verify by touching it a 2nd time.
- Next, you will be asked to name the key which is simply used to help identify it; end-users may set this to their preference. Click Next.
- The final screen will let you know the enrollment process completed. Click Done.
